Nearly a year since we set off on this journey, we’re now on our way to Greece.
Greece – a place that feels so familiar, almost like a second home. A land where we’ve spent many beautiful holidays. A place woven into the fabric of our lives.
It’s where I met Edwin.
It’s where I was proposed to – unexpectedly – with a beautiful flag waving proudly at the bow.
It’s where we returned for our honeymoon.
And even before all that, it was where the seeds of our shared dreams were first sown.
With Friends & Sailing, we explored Greece from the water, discovering the joy of sailing, the warmth of the people, the richness of the culture. The simplicity of grilled octopus drying on a line. The relaxed rhythm of daily life. The charm of white-washed houses, painted walls and blue-domed rooftops gleaming under the sun. Lefkas area, still holding on to its Italian flair. The black buzz of wasps, the scent of oregano in the air, the laughter of fellow sailors around a harbour table.
We know these places well or at least we used to. It’s been a while now. And as we sail there with our own boat now, it feels like revisiting an old friend: familiar, yet changed. And so are we.
A year into our voyage, this feels like the beginning of a special new chapter. Greece once helped us dream. Now, it welcomes us back with all the memories it holds, and all the moments yet to come. Let’s see what this will bring us…
